Can you describe the moment you wanted to capture? Can you describe the moment(s) you captured the photo(s)?
I’ve been fascinated with skin for a while now – it’s got this distinct texture that draws you into a photograph or ‘bodyscape’. I started this project a few years ago to explore skin more explicitly, adding to it from time to time. It’s entirely in black & white to offer a distilled approach to focus the photographs purely on skin.
Where were you when you realised you wanted to make this piece of art?
Were you listening to music when you created this piece?
The band Rhye was a strong influenced for the project. The artwork for their albums has an obvious connection, and I’ve spent a while studying those intimate pictures, but there’s a softness to the music that I feel is very appropriate in accompanying skin – the music and the artwork reflect each other, and it’s something that’s in the back of my mind when I’m taking photographs for this project.
What have you learnt since creating this piece?
It’s never over.
Where do you dream of living?
Somewhere that doesn’t trap me.
What does nude remind you of?
Moroccan sand dunes.
